✨ EESTech Challenge is an annual European competition of EESTEC (Electrical Engineering STudents' European assoCiation) aimed mainly at Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering students.
The aim and vision of this action is for students to come into contact with cutting-edge technologies, gain experience in the field of Electrical & Computer Engineering and expand their professional network.
The competition is divided into the regional rounds and the final. Each local round is organized by the respective EESTEC Local Committee and the top teams from each local round go to the final, where they compete with all the winners from the other cities. The procedure has the form hackathon, in which the participants form groups of 3 and are asked to solve a problem related to the theme of the competition.
This year's theme of the competition is Mobile App Development: Gamification

As part of the educational preparation of the participants in the Local Round of the EESTech Challenge, an introductory seminar has been scheduled on Monday, March 27, 19:30, entitled "Gamification 101". The seminar will be broadcast exclusively via the Zoom application.

💻 The theme for 2022 was: Machine Learning Applications.
🗓️ The competition was held on April 2, 2022 with the Local Round.
💎 The winning team was “Machine Forgetting” and advanced to the Final Round held by LC Milan.
📍 The Open Day took place on March 22, 2022. In it, representatives of our sponsors presented their companies as well as their working environment. At the same time, the participants of the competition had the opportunity to meet and interact with each other through appropriate booths, to express their questions and to expand their professional network.
As part of the students' preparation for the Local Round of the EESTech Challenge, a series of educational seminars and workshops were held. Particularly:
- On Thursday, March 3, the 1st Seminar was held by Mr. Dimitris Kosmopoulos, Associate Professor of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras and the following topics were covered: "Deep Learning to sequential data modeling" and "Pointers to open source -software based on pytorch”.
- On Tuesday, March 15, the 1st Online Webinar was delivered by Mr. Konstantinos Moustakas, Associate Professor of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology, on the topic of "3D Geometry Processing in the Deep Learning Era".
- On Monday, March 28, the Diamond seminar sponsored by EY Greece was held, with speaker Antonis Arvanitakis, Senior Manager & Consulting EY. The training was entitled "Machine Learning 101: A business perspective".
- On Friday, April 1, in collaboration with Golden sponsor Think Silicon, the 2nd Online Webinar was held by Mr. Georgios Keramida, Assistant Professor of the IT department of AUTH. The topic of the seminar was “Ultra-low Power Accelerators for Microcontrollers”.
- The EESTech Challenge project closed on Thursday, April 7 with the Oracle Greece webinar and the Oracle Academy training program. In particular, Mr. Georgios Vervainiotis, Ms. Hara Serbetzoglou and Ms. Garyfallia Dimitriou spoke about the impact of Machine Learning on the business sector.

💎 And our winning team “31337 h4x0r5” qualified to Final Round held by LC Belgrade.
✨ Open Day conference was held on March 19, 2021 online! In this conference, the sponsoring companies highlight their work and their technological training through a separate presentation, and then the participants have the opportunity to meet them personally through booths, ask their questions and make important acquaintances!
In the context of the students' preparation for the EESTech Challenge Local Round, a series of talks and workshops took place. You can find the participation forms in the respective Events on our page at Facebook.
- The first speech was held on February 27 with the speakers of the Computer and Informatics Engineering department and head of the SCYTALE Group Mr. Νικόλαο Σκλάβο and a graduate of the Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering and a graduate student at Purdue University, Μαρία Παντοπούλου with subject Introduction to Cybersecurity.
- On March 13, the 2nd Webinar titled Cybersecurity: From 0->h3r0, from the gentleman Ανδρόνικο Κυριακού, Technical Consultant Lead, Whalebone.
- On Saturday, March 27, the 3rd Webinar titled Cybersecurity Challenges , in collaboration with Mme Ειρήνη Ιωαννίδου, Researcher, SCYTALE Group, UoP and Mr Σωκράτη Κάτσικα, Professor, Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
- On Friday, April 16, took place the 4th Webinar, in collaboration with the company ORACLE on Information Security, titled “Identity & Access Management Solutions”. The speakers were Mr. Σπύρος Βάλσαμος, Enterprise Security Practice Leader and Mr. Βαγγέλης Σκουτέλης, Junior IDM Consultant.

The theme for 2020 was: Human-Computer Interaction.
In the context of the students' preparation for the EESTech Challenge Local Round, a series of workshops were held. Specifically:
- “Introduction to Machine Learning, Data Science and Deep Learning (Neural Networks), using Python” (part 1 and part 2) by Mr. Ioannis Plegas, Senior Software Engineer at INTRASOFT International, golden sponsor of EESTech Challenge.
- “Interaction channel transformation for people with disabilities and applications” by Professor Konstantinos Moustakas, of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology of the University of Patras.
- “Human-centered design in the field of HCI” by Professor Nikolaos Avouris, of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology of the University of Patras.
- “Navigation assistance system for the visually impaired” by Ioannis Koutoulogenis, a graduate of the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Technology of the University of Patras.
- “Practical problems in Human-Computer Interaction” by Professor Andreas Komninos, of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras.
