EESTEC (Electrical Engineering STudents European assoCiation) is an apolitical, non-governmental, non-profit organization of Electrical and Computer Engineering students from all over Europe. Its aim is to help students reach the peak of their academic, professional and social life in a strong and recognizable environment.

Our History

The history of EESTEC

The idea for a student group of Electrical and Computer Engineering had been around for quite some time, specifically since 1958. That's how EURIELEC started in 1964. EURIELEC was an Electrical Engineering group where it tried to connect the students of Europe, at a time when this was quite difficult. Although initially very successful, the EURIELEC era did not last long as in 1972 it disbanded.

In the following years, many attempts were made to create something similar, but without any particular success.

In 1984, three Dutch student groups tried again to start the venture, eventually organizing in 1986 a pan-European electrical engineering conference (EESTIC).

At this conference, EESTEC was born from 50 students from 17 countries and 26 cities from all over Europe. Over the next few years, the organization continued to grow with more cities becoming members.

Today, EESTEC continues and grows. At the moment, the organization counts members from 50 cities and 27 countries from all over Europe and over 6000 members.

The story of EESTEC LC Patras

Patras was one of the first branches to join EESTEC after its establishment, specifically in 1987. However, its course was not very long since in 1992 LC Patras was closed. But the story doesn't stop there!

In 2006, Patra rejoined EESTEC. Little by little, from Observer it became LC and until 2011 it had a quite successful course, organizing 2 international events, where participants from all over Europe came to Patras. However, in 2012 all the members of LC Patras graduated and there was no one to continue the team, eventually leading to Observer downgrading again.

After 2 years of inactivity, Patras again gained members willing to run for the team and has continued and flourished ever since. In 2015 he became an LC and continues to actively contribute to the organization. In 2019, LC Patras won the title of EESTEC's 3rd strongest LC. Today, EESTEC LC Patras counts 180 members, of which 67 are directly active both locally and internationally.

Local Events

Then, we organize several academic seminars in Patras, open to the public and free of charge. Through these, we try to bring the student public into contact with modern technological issues and offer development opportunities that are missing from the university. Get to know our two big projects, the EESTech Challenge and the Soft Skills Academy and our academic seminars!
